AutoStart
|
AutoStart provides quick access to the applications stored on your USB
Flash Drive. It is a core component of "The Libertà Project" aimed at
launching Portable Applications.
AutoStart monitors USB Flash Drives and shows icons in the notification
area of the taskbar for attached drives. It then creates a menu
containing applications on the drive that appears when the notification
area icon is right clicked.
- Creates an icon in the notification area for every flash drive
connected.
- Start menu for launching applications. Shown when icon is right
clicked.
- Left clicking a trayicon will run app specified by 'shell' value
in autorun.inf
- Right click drive icon gives menu with Unplug/Eject drive option.
- Eject drive implemented directly through Windows API calls.
- Designed to leave no trace on a PC when not installed.
- Tiny, 90KB compressed with exe compressor.
- Installer is built-in. So it can install itself on flash drives
or on the PC.
- Supports most of the standard Microsoft autorun.inf features.
- Automatically generates or updates autorun.inf with applications
it finds during installation on a flash drive.
System Requirements
AutoStart does not work on 'old windows' e.g. Windows 98. The minimum
system requirements are Windows 2000. Testing is being conducted on
Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP2.

Autostart and Process Viewer
|
Gives you a control over applications which start with Windows, and shows which processes are running on your computer. But, the reason to create this application, was actually to find out which processes and autostart entries are new. You can "accept" a process or a program starting with windows, and if a new ("unaccepted") item appears - the program tells you about it.
Why? Simply because most trojans and viruses put themselves to the autostart, andor, must run as a process, all of this without your knowledge (unless you have this program installed:). Of course having a good anti-virus and anti-trojans software is a must, but the key problem is that a certain trojanvirus may not be detected by this programs yet (for example because a trojan is new, and the databases of anti-trojan programs are not yet aware of them)

Autostart Explorer
|
Autostart Explorer is a powerful application that lists all autostarted files on your system. Unlike other similar utilities, which may list autostarted files from only certain locations such as the registry Run keys, Autostart Explorer has been designed to show every autostarted file on your system, no matter how obscure the location it is started from.
Note: Free for personal use.

AutoStartManager
|
There are at least three different locations for programs that start after Windows starts. AutoStartManager allows you to see them on one screen, and enable/disable them. This is useful for instance when you're travelling away from the office and you need to disable all these tools that make sense when you're connected to the company's network, but only slow down your computer when you're away.
It's also useful to find out if an application has added something to the startup group after being installed.

AutoTab
|
|
This is one of the most off-the-wall application that you'll find on the site - AnalogX AutoTab! Just what does it do - simple, it switches between active applications every couple of seconds... Perfect for tradeshow displays or other times when you would like your computer to switch through a variety of programs in an automated fashion. Just another bizarre application conceived by the guys at The Screen Savers!
