Diabetes Log Sheet
|
|
A log sheet is an alternative or adjunct to software. There are a lot of different log sheets out there, but the best, in my opinion, is one developed by Jean-François Yale, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, Crabtree Nutrition Laboratories, McGill Nutrition and Food Science Centre, Royal Victoria Hospital, and Director, Metabolic Day Centre. I met with him in Montreal in August 2002, and at that time he authorized me to make his log sheet available on my Web site. Dr. Yale's log sheet lets you enter blood glucose readings, insulin dosages, carbohydrate grams, and exercise (which you can put on a scale of 1 to 5) for any hour of the day. Before printing the log sheets remember to change the page layout to landscape and when you are finished to change it back to the usual portrait layout. Two pages of the log sheet cover the seven days of the week. It is an Adobe Acrobat PDF file, which requires the free Acrobat Reader, available at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html, if you don't have it already.

DUITestB
|
|
This program uses the 'Widmark Formula' to calculate BAC levels and is for testing your reaction and coordination times while consuming alcohol. It reports and keeps track of the number and type of drinks consumed, total ounces of alcohol consumed, your current BAC, and the time your BAC will reach ZERO. It can also "Familiarize" you to when you are over the limit. Please don't use this program to drink and drive. There are many variable factors as to your BAC level and your ability to operate machinery or a motor vehicle. Remember, the only test that matters is the one the police, or the company administers. You must agree to assume all liability for the use and/or misuse of this program to download it. For ALL "Windows"... 3.1 and up.

Ear Test
|
The program is designed to give you a quick test of your ear's capabilities to hear all frequencies of the audible spectrum, separately for each ear. You can measure with good accuracy up to which frequency you can hear and compare your result with those of your friends and family. The test result is drawn as a graphcal chart.
The upper frequency limit of the human ears is strongly dependent on a person's age. A child can usually hear frequencies of up to 20,000 Hz (oscillations per second), while for an old person it can be as low as 5,000 Hz and even lower. For a middle-aged person (40 years), a frequency of 14,000 Hz is an average value. Some people can have gaps in their hearing spectrum, due to inner ear injuries - this can also be checked.
Due to the lack of calibration, this program cannot replace a medical hearing test. Please be careful when using it with headphones.

EGDiet
|
|
EGDiet allows keeping track of your weight and daily food intakes for each day. It manages up to 36 different "persons", like, for example, the whole family, and that in either French or English :-). The foods database is not yet completely translated. There are 700 foods in English names and 300 in French. The internal help is in both languages.
EGDiet calculates your Lean Body Mass and fats proportions, bvased on several measurements of your body.
Graphs will follow up your weight and your daily nutriments and calories intake. You can print any or all of the graphs at any time. A diagnosis feature calculates (and explains how!) your "ideal" weight,as well as your required daily calories intake at normal times and during a slimming diet.
Select foods by typing the beginning of their name, by using the cursor keys or the mouse to position the FOODS database on the correct food.
Change the amount of food by either typing it in, or by using the UpDown/LeftRight button: "Up and Down" add or diminish the weight by 10 Grammes, "Left and Right" add or diminish the weight by 100 Grammes.
You can add complex dish nutrients to the main foods database.
Foods SpeedSearch is always ON.
You can edit (modify) all the information in all of the four system's Databases:
Records (=items) in any data file can be added, changed, marked for deletion - they are then painted in RED - and Recalled (=Un-Marked for deletion) using the navigation bar below the grid. At all times you can "clean" the the current file by PACKing it.
