Archive Converter

The ACVT program (Archive Converter) is a converter of archives. The program supports practically any archives types, if, certainly, you have appropriate, archivers. The type of the necessary archive is set by the user, in rest rely on the ACVT program. ACVT extracts files from the source archive and packs them into the new archive, removing the original archive provided the output archive was successfully created. To adjust the program you can in the file of a configuration. ACVT can make descriptions for archivers also.

Archive Utility

Use Archive Utility to produce listings of files, folders and drives. Justdrag your selection onto the main dialogue and it then processes the data.
There is a variety of options available to format the output.
It's archiving feature may be of use to those who archive files to a database.
It assigns a special ID to each file and you can then append the output as records into your database.
It comes complete with a good online help system.
Archive Utility is Freeware for anyone. it is freely distributable as a ZIP file in its entirety.

Archiver

Archiver is an easy to use program with explorer-like interface which allows you to catalog the drives: floppy disks, hard drives (including network ones), optical disks, CD-ROMs, ZIP disks and other media.
Archiver's user interface is easy to use, familiar Explorer-like user interface with clear overview of available functions and extensive use of object menus (right mouse click) to let you quickly access command you need. Want to see item's description or assigned thumbnail image? Just leave mouse pointer on it and right click!
Every item in catalog includes detailed basic information about files and folders you would come to expect, like name, size, date, file attributes and similar, but Archiver adds to that its own information it provides as a catalog program.
Compressed file formats can be handled during media scan, if so selected, compressed files can be presented as folders, showing their content inside.
Depending of file format, Archiver imports descriptions and images while media is being scanned and stored in the catalog. This way, you can have your files and folders equipped with descriptions right after scanning completes.
Built-in media recognition system
Archiver does not use drive letters to reference cataloged disks, it is able to recognize them by their serial number and label. This way, it doesn't matter which drive your media is in, Archiver will find it, even on some other computer over the network.
Archiver features a powerful multi-threaded searching, with detailed settings on what to search for, where to search and how to search. You can search based on file or folder names, MP3 details like artists, song title or album, and even text contained into text files!
Archiver is released with a royalty free sdk used for developing Archiver himself and for creating integrations with, in example, Office.
Archiver is also available as freeware edition. In order to obtain freeware license, download the software and ask for a free license. Freeware edition is limited in number of media you can add.

Archivers

KnowWare's Archivers Program is a file uncompression and compression utility which includes complete file management tools. It provides you with a quick, intuitive Windows interface for using the file compression programs ZIP, ARJ, LZH and Microsoft's Compress and Expand programs. The Archivers window is laid out with a Source and a Target directory visible on your screen. This allows you to see and control all of the Archivers functions. The Archivers menus provide quick access to all of the uncompression and compression commands, and, for added speed, Archivers also provides a pop-up menu which can be accessed anywhere in the Archivers window by clicking on your right mouse button and provides you with instant access to the more frequently used menu items. Archivers also offers the ability to view, extract or delete individual files within your Zip, Lzh and Arj files before uncompressing them.
And Archivers does not limit itself to file compression and uncompression. It also offers a complete file management system; allowing you to create directories, delete directories, copy and move files, search for files, view and execute files, and backup system files - all directly from the Archivers window. By double clicking on files, you can also view text files, BMP files and GIF files, as well as execute EXE files and listen to WAV audio files. Archivers also includes a directory comparison function which can compare a working directory and a backup directory and automatically update the files that have been changed. We have also recently added a user-defined text editor and graphics viewer which you can add to the Editors or Viewer menus for viewing text and graphics files. Archivers runs under Windows 3.x or Windows 95.
