ComPuta

You could call ComPuta a calculator. But ComPuta does much more than your usual calculator. In addition to the usual arithmetic calculations, ComPuta can solve your non-linear equations, find the extrema (local minima and maxima) of your functions, generate tables of values for your functions, interpolate functions from data for specific points or in intervals, integrate and differentiate your functions and solve your first order initial value problems using the best algorithms. ComPuta is easy to use, it does what it says it does efficiently and there is no boring long documentation to read. Of course there are advanced tricks and options in ComPuta, but you dont have to learn them unless you want to. ComPuta is small in size, less than 200kb, a single executable and does not modify your system in any way. You can add comments in your computations and your tasks are automatically saved so that you can continue from where you stopped.

A very small (42 KB) console spreadsheet program for Windows, but you may still be able to do your bookkeeping with it. Saves, loads and copies in tsv (tab separated) format to or from text editor, Excel or other spreadsheet, with formulas or with their values. Includes program, help and example in form of FAQ, and source code for popular freeware compiler Dev-C++. As much as it can be decided based on what users say, people use it mainly to learn programming and to learn spreadsheets.

Conversion Buddy

Conversion Buddy: CB is a metric unit conversion program. You can enter new units and factors and edit the existing ones. 1700 conversion factors are included. SI Convert To units may be prefixed with any of the 20 SI prefixes.
Expression Buddy: EB interprets any expression containing up to 51 variables. The user enters the expression and assigns values to the variables and to their standard uncertainties. EB then
1.) calculates the value of the expression,
2.) displays the standard uncertainty of that value (based on the standard uncertainties of the independent variables) and
3.) provides a stepwise, textual audit of the result calculation and of the uncertainty calculation. The audit can be printed.
Conversion Buddy 4.1.2 is Freeware for Win95/NT. Expression Buddy 1.1.2 is included as a menu item.
