Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP .
Most often the Windows Temp folder has unnecessary files in it (see "If your still reading" below), we have seen many people with 100's of MB up to GB's worth of garbage files taking up resources on computers. More then once we have receive a phone call, my program won't work, or i can't install a program, first we need to find out if the hard drive is full, due to all the temporary files left in the Windows Temp folder then we need to guide the person through a number of sometimes confusing steps on how to delete the temporary files left laying around in the Windows Temp folder.
If your still reading, the reason for the temporary files is when you run or install software programs temporary files need to be created, if the temporary files do not get removed properly, due to a problem with the program or the computer (crashes, not closed properly, lockups, etc ... ), these temporary files end up being left on your hard drive, over time they can take a lot of space.
