AW-Europe offers a new and exciting 3D Internet environment. It is now possible to meet tens of thousands of other visitors in recognisable and professional environments via the Internet, real-time and interactively.
This client-server technology, developed by ActiveWorlds in 1996 allows you to quickly put together 3-dimensional representations of real or imaginary environments. The 3D platform immerses the visitor in these environments while allowing full integration with “normal” websites and other technologies.
Every visitor chooses a virtual body (an Avatar) with which they can move within and between the 3D worlds. They can see the other visitors walking, flying or swimming around, depending on the theme and surroundings of the 3D world. Communication between visitors is done via chat and instant messaging, while the arrow keys allow the avatars to move.
Many international companies use this technology on their intra- and extranets to display their products, invite customers and bring personnel together for events and meetings.
