ABCTools is a 16-bit Windows program that lets you transpose ABC tunes, make cheat sheets, check the syntax of your tune files, and more.
These are the functions provided by ABCTools:
- Edit .abc files
- Transpose tune to a different key
- Change the L: field for a tune, and alter note lengths correspondingly
- Calculate missing L: fields
- Renumber the X: fields for part or all of the file
- Correct the beaming for a tune
- Reformat tunes with four bars per line
- Insert and remove bar numbers and accents; remove grace notes, redundant chords
- Test syntax and bar lengths
- Make cheat sheets -- output a new .abc file containing the title and first two full bars of each tune. The cheat sheet can be printed as sheet music using
- ABC2Win or an equival ent program. Extract all tunes from a file with selected R: field (e.g., all the jigs) into a new file
